We are multi-campus group of college students who are growing together in the likeness of Jesus through study and application of the Word, community groups, one-on-one conversations, service, participation in the greater church of Jesus Christ, and outreach-focused events
We exist to provide college students with a community that encourages and supports them in their sanctification process and enables them to deepen their relationships with others by sharing God’s truth and loving how Christ loves
Summer nights! (June 6th-August 29th)
We will gather together every Wednesday for dinner, fellowship, and an application-based study through the Proverbs. Bring your friends for games, a pool, food, prayer, and the Word. We meet at 2307 Kenwood Avenue, in San Jose. If you would like to volunteer to help lead throughout the night (cooking, worship, etc.) please let Abby know!
"So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, 'If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'” John 8:31-32
We strive to grow deeper in our knowledge of and love for God's Word through applying it to our lives and letting Christ transform us. Some of the ways we make this happen are:
cooridinaing fun events that allow students to outreach on their campuses and grow in their relationships with one another
Teaching the Word of God and training up students to do likewise
encouraging students to be in the Word daily
Communicating with students about what they are learning from the Word and how it is being applied to their lives
Providing opportunities for student participation and connection to the church as whole
Equipping students for leadership through opportunities in service and evangelism within the ministry
Small group apprenticing
Practice sharing the Gospel
Abby Deetjen is Bay Area native, and graduated from Santa Clara University in March of 2016. She feels called towards work with college students for two reasons. First, the most significant part of her spiritual journey (so far) occurred during her junior year of college. Secondly, a staggering number of students walk away from the faith in college, and she wants to work with these students to strengthen their faith in such a transitional phase of life. Abby was a leader in an on-campus fellowship the last two years of college, and led an all-women’s Bible study for 2 years. She spent the summer of 2017 working as an intern college director at a church near her home, and in September of that year God opened this door at Church of the Valley. Abby is thrilled to be working with college students on multiple campuses in the bay.
Abby has been married to her husband Marc since July of 2016. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking without recipes, performing onstage or through music, and road tripping with her favorite person (husband). If you want to hear more of God’s story in her life, or have any questions about college ministry, please contact her at email@example.com
