Malik Campbell
Worship Director
I was born and raised in San Jose, and I’ve had the privilege of becoming familiar with much of the Bay Area. I attended grade school in the Evergreen School District while living with my mom and three siblings. In high school, I was actively involved in band, where I spent much of my time and found a large part of my identity. However, searching for answers through difficult family and social circumstances led me to question whether I had a deeper purpose in life.
Growing up, I was taught to pray, and to love God. But, Jesus was mostly left out of the equation. My belief in God became a belief that I would go to heaven as long as I was a good person according to my own standards. I brought this belief with me as I started to attend San Jose State University. However, while there earning my B.S. in Economics, I met a college ministry called Pulse. As I spent time there, building relationships and discovering some of my (to this day) closest friends, God began to draw me to Himself. And, eventually, I began to follow Jesus.
Today, because of the Word of God, spending time in community, and the work of the Holy Spirit in me, I have been transformed with a genuine faith. My (our) sole means of justification and salvation is found in the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus alone.
I began attending Church of the Valley in 2017 and started serving on the worship team. In 2019, I began working part-time as an intern. And, since early 2023, I’ve been serving as the full-time Worship Director here. I also had the privledge in August, 2025 to marry to my wife, Rebecca.
In my spare time, I enjoy listening to and making music, gaming, going to the gym, and chatting about capital markets.
